Insured Consignment

One of the services that allows you to send valuable items safely and without worries. Insured consignments can include money, precious metals and stones and products made from them, jewelry and securities (traveler's checks, bearer checks, bills of exchange, etc.), payment cards, vouchers for goods or services, and other valuables. The post office is responsible for valuable items, which can be insured for up to CZK 1 million (declared value).

Method of payment

In cash upon submission or by postage stamps, and additionally for contractual customers by cash register receipt, cashless payment of postal service fees, or bank transfer.

Submission

  • Submissions can be made at all post offices or to authorized postal workers.
  • The sender fills out the pre-printed Postage Slip, Postage Sheet in electronic or paper form, or Data File. 
    The post office confirms the submission of the shipment to the sender in a proof of posting. This takes the form of a Postage Slip or Postage Sheet.
  • The sender is required to indicate the value of the contents on the valuable shipment; the value must not exceed CZK 1,000,000.
  • Due to security guarantees, valuable shipments with a declared value of more than CZK 30,000 (with contents valued at more than CZK 10,000) must meet special packaging requirements.
  • TIP! Fill in the shipping details online in the Send Shipment application, get a discount, and print out an address label to stick on the shipment. This way, you don't have to write the address by hand.

Delivery 

  • The post office will deliver valuable parcels to the recipient on condition that they confirm receipt.

For contract customers

Based on a contract (agreement) with Česká pošta, you can use the following services: 

Paperless cash on delivery

If you submit your shipment in the form of a data file, you can use this service to reduce the administrative burden. The service significantly speeds up the receipt of financial amounts from cash on delivery shipments.

Reply mail

If the customer (addressee of the reply mail) agrees with Česká pošta and concludes a contract, the price for the service is not paid by the sender, but by the addressee. The declared price must not exceed CZK 100,000 and this service cannot be combined with other additional services. In addition to other prices for the shipment, a surcharge is added according to the current price list.

Information about the movement and delivery of shipments sent to the sender by e-mail.

Pick-up and delivery of shipments

You can also arrange with the post office to have your shipment picked up at a location other than the post office, i.e., the post office will pick up shipments directly at your place of business. However, this service depends on the capacity of the post office.

For contract customers, payment is also possible by thefranking machine, cashless payment for postal services, or bank transfer.
