Sustainability and ESG

Sustainability is a much-used term these days. For us postal workers, however, it is not just a word; for us, sustainability is about an approach and opportunities to become better, more efficient and more beneficial.  And this applies not only to the environment and social responsibility, but also to corporate governance and ethical business practices. At Česká pošta, we are not only working intensively on our transformation, but also on developing an ESG strategy and the resulting voluntary commitments we will undertake in this area.

Environmental responsibility

As part of sustainable business, we also consider our responsibility towards the environment to be one of our priorities. We actively strive to save energy, reduce our carbon footprint, and develop electromobility.

Sustainability goals

Czech Post has long been committed to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which set out a development agenda for a better world by 2030. Wherever we can, we strive to fulfil and further these goals.
In our approach to sustainability, we consider the following goals to be priorities:

3 - Health and quality of life

The health of our employees and their loved ones is important to us, which is why we look after it. We know that good health cannot be taken for granted.

4 - Quality education

We know that no modern society can do without quality education. That is why we have long-term partnerships with secondary schools and universities.

5 - Gender equality

Equal treatment of men and women is a matter of course for us.

7 - Affordable and clean energy

We have long been committed to protecting the environment, including through optimal energy savings and the use of green energy.

8 - Decent work and economic growth

Decent work for all our employees is a matter of course for us. Our goal is also economic growth, which will enable us to further develop our business.

10 - Less inequality

We are a signatory to the European Diversity Charter. The Charter was established in Europe in 2013 as a commitment to developing a generally tolerant working environment. And that is also our goal.

11 - Sustainable cities and communities

Our business affects the environment and quality of life in all cities and communities throughout the country. That is why we strive to cooperate as much as possible with their representatives and participate in the development of their community life. We also strive to limit our impact on their environment, for example by using alternative fuels for cars and economical waste management.

16 - Peace, justice, and strong institutions

We act responsibly and transparently. We respect fundamental rights and freedoms and our legal system. We are part of the critical infrastructure of the state and are aware of our responsibility to society.
