Electronic highway vignette

The era of sticking paper highway coupons has ended, replaced by a new electronic highway vignette. You can also purchase it at all post offices and selected Pošta Partner branches.  

Types of electronic highway vignettes

For vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons, you can purchase an electronic vignette valid for 1 year, 30 days, 10 days, or 1 day. Each type of electronic vignette has its own color logo, which makes it easier to identify when purchasing.

The validity of electronic highway vignettes will be checked in road traffic by the Czech Police and the Czech Customs Administration. They will use cameras in vehicles or at checkpoints for this purpose. They will immediately see information on a control tablet as to whether the vehicle has a valid electronic highway vignette or is exempt.

How and where can I buy the electronic highway vignette?

At any post office

Drivers can purchase electronic vignettes at any Czech Post office, as usual. They can also be purchased at selected branches of Czech Post's contractual partners, known as Pošta Partner, which provide postal services.  The procedure is simple:

  • At the counter, you will provide the necessary information: type of electronic vignette (annual, 30 days, 10 days, 1 day), country of vehicle registration, license plate number, and start date of vignette validity. If you have a natural gas or biomethane vehicle, be sure to mention this, as you will be eligible for a reduced Eco price.
  • You will pay and receive a confirmation with all the details. Check all the information on the confirmation at the moment without waiting.

Please note!  You have only 15 minutes to request a correction of incorrectly entered information, such as an incorrect license plate number. After that, it is no longer possible to make any further changes or file a complaint.

In the e-shop and elsewhere

The e-shop is accessible from both computers and smartphones at edalnice.gov.cz. Here, you can select the type of electronic vignette, enter your license plate number and country of registration. You pay online and receive a confirmation email including the vignette's validity period.

You can also purchase vignettes at ČEPRO petrol stations or at self-service kiosks, which will be located mainly in border areas before the entrance to toll motorway sections.

Validity period of electronic highway vignettes

  • When purchasing an electronic vignette, the date and time of payment determine when it becomes valid. This information can be found on the confirmation you receive at the Czech Post office. The confirmation also states the expiry date of the electronic vignette, which is always at 23:59:59 on the specified date.
  • If you choose to defer the validity of the electronic vignette (you can purchase it up to 30 days in advance), the electronic vignette will become valid at midnight on the selected date.
