Compliance at Czech Post

Czech Post wants to be a successful but also responsible company. It declares that it does not tolerate any conduct (whether by its employees or persons authorized to act on its behalf) that would be contrary to legal regulations, principles of fair business practices, or good morals.

In order to support the implementation of the above principles, Czech Post implements a compliance program against corruption and other unfair practices. This program is a fundamental component of Czech Post compliance management system. It is also a tool for implementing the Ministry of the Interior’s internal anti-corruption program.

The aim of the compliance measures introduced is to protect Czech Post against unfair practices (including corruption) that could lead to criminal prosecution and possible conviction of Czech Post (under the Act on Criminal Liability of Legal Entities) or otherwise damage its good name.

Code of Conduct

In order to fulfill its commitment and support an environment where ethical dilemmas are openly discussed, Czech Post has established principles of desirable and unacceptable conduct in the Code of Conduct of Czech Post.

Ethics Declaration

Czech Post, as an entity that respects ethical values, is transparent, and has an appropriate compliance management system in place, has been awarded the "Ethical Company" certificate. The certificate is awarded by the Compliance Academy based on an assessment of the organization's setup and management with regard to ethical, moral, and legal conduct and the fulfillment of corporate values.

In connection with the certification process, the CEO adopted the Czech Post’s Ethics Declaration, which was supported by other members of management. The management of Czech Post thus expressed the values and attitudes that guide Czech Post and that it intends to adhere to in its activities and to honor and respect in its relations with internal/external stakeholders. By signing the Ethics Declaration, the CEO confirmed the ethical values summarized in this document and thus set a clear tone from the top. Members of management support the Ethic Declaration by reflecting its values in the activities of their departments across the Czech Post.

Obtaining the Ethical Company certificate sends a signal within the company – to its employees. It says that Czech Post has passed verification of how it reflects ethics and compliance in its activities. It is also an equally important signal to third parties outside Czech Post. For business partners and customers in particular, the certification confirms that we implement ethical and compliance commitments at a high level and thus have reasonable expectations that our business partners and suppliers will adhere to similar values and approaches.

Contractual clauses

Czech Post also requires its suppliers and other designated legal entities and individuals with whom it enters into business or other contractual relationships to act correctly.
In compliance and anti-corruption clauses (which form part of these contracts), Czech Post requires its contractual partners to behave in such a way that there is no reasonable suspicion of committing a criminal offense that could be attributed to the contractual partner or Czech Post itself under Act No. 418/2011 Coll. on the criminal liability of legal entities and proceedings against them.
In addition, we oblige our alliance and selected contractual partners to comply with the Czech Post's Code of Ethics within the framework of our cooperation through an ethical clause. In the event of a breach of the clauses, Czech post has the option to withdraw from the contract.

  1. Compliance (criminal law) clause – obligations arising from the Act on Criminal Liability of Legal Entities and the Criminal Code

Supplier Code of Conduct

The Czech Post Supplier Code summarizes the fundamental values and standards of conduct that Czech Post recognizes and adheres to. Through the Code, Czech Post expresses its expectation that suppliers selected through public tenders and other designated external entities (contractual partners whose goods or services Czech Post sells through its branches or by other means) have familiarized themselves with the Supplier Code and will comply with it. The provisions of the Czech Post Supplier Code of Conduct are part of the contractual documentation.
