Bundling instructions
Instructions for Preparing and Pre-processing Letter Mail Bundles
The purpose of bundling is to group individual consignments into packages, in accordance with specific rules, that are routed directly to specific levels of the postal network; as a result of this bundling method—among other factors—and in accordance with the Terms and Conditions and Price List of Česká pošta, the customer receives a discount on postage.
A key factor in the preparation and pre-processing of sheet mail is sorting it into items that are SUITABLE and UNSUITABLE for machine processing. These instructions also describe how to bundle different types of mail (business correspondence, press mail, etc.).
Processing shipments into bundles
10 or more items for a single postal code – creation of bundles according to individual five-digit postal codes
If there are 10 or more items for a post office with the same postal code (or for a single five-digit postal code), they are grouped into a bundle, which is marked with the full postal code, the name of the relevant post office, or the addressee.
Example: "378 05 Klikov" – the bundle contains only items with the postal code 378 05, "251 65 Ondřejov" – the bundle contains items with the postal code 251 65.

Less than 10 items for delivery mail – creation of bundles at district level according to postal code ranges
A bundle according to postal code ranges at district level (district routing networks) is created if there are not enough items according to the above points. The bundle is marked according to the overview in point 6
point 6 with the postal code range and the name of the district with the identification of the relevant DSPU. An overview of postal codes for creating bundles according to postal code ranges with the names of the relevant districts (district routing networks) and DSPUs is provided in point 6.
Example: 377 00 - 380 00 České Budějovice 02 (Jindřichův Hradec district). The volume contains all shipments with postal codes from 377 00 to 380 99.

Rules for bundling
- The items in the bundle are placed with the address side up according to their postal code and arranged in the same direction, and a bundle label is placed on top of them. The bundle with the label is tied with string (tape) so that it cannot come apart during transport.
- The address of the sender is written in the upper left corner of the bundle label.
- The recommended size of the bundle label depends on the size (format) of the bundled shipments – C4, C5, C6, DL. The minimum size of the bundle label is 8x10 cm.
- The maximum weight of a single bundle of items in C6 (114 x 162 mm) and DL (110 x 220 mm) formats is 2 kg.
