Authentication of documents
When authenticating documents, we verify that the transcript or copy (certified document) literally matches the original presented. This most often involves the authentication of high school diplomas, university degrees, certificates, marriage certificates, and the like.
We do not verify the accuracy or truthfulness of the information in the document, nor its compliance with legal regulations.
What is authentication used for?
- It provides legal certainty that the copy of the document corresponds to the original.
- It allows you to submit a copy instead of the original to authorities, schools, employers, or other institutions.
What you gain from authentication
- An officially certified copy with a stamp and a clause confirming its conformity with the original.
- A document legally recognized for official and legal purposes.
Who can perform the procedure and what is required for it
- Any applicant – natural or legal person.
- You will need the original document, a copy (or transcript) and proof of identity.
Where can authentication be performed?
At selected post offices with Czech POINT service.
Price list
- Authentication: CZK 30 per page (A4) or part thereof.
- If the document is larger than A4, the price is calculated as a multiple of A4 pages.
The price includes VAT.

When authentication cannot be performed
- The document from which the copy is to be made is a unique document that cannot be replaced by a copy – for example, an identity card, passport, driver's license, firearms license, military ID, service ID, residence permit, fishing or hunting license, savings book, check, bill of exchange, lottery ticket, betting slip, geometric plan, or technical drawing.
- The document is in a language other than Czech or Slovak and is not accompanied by an officially certified translation (if the copy is made by the certifying officer on site, a translation is not required).
- The document contains security features (e.g., watermark or hologram) that cannot be accurately copied (if the copy is made by the certifier on site, this is possible).
- The document is already a certified certified copy.
- The document was created from an authorized conversion of documents and contains elements that cannot be fully transferred to the copy.
- The document has deletions, additions, or other changes that could reduce its credibility.
- The copy would not match the original—for example, parts of the text or formatting would be missing.
- It is unclear whether it is an original, a certified copy, an output from an authorized conversion, a transcript from a file, or a duplicate of a decision.
