What to do if you lose or forget your access details?

Have you lost or forgotten your login details for your data mailbox account? There are two possible solutions to this problem. If you have any means of electronic identification, such as an eID card, bank ID, mobile key, etc., you can log in to your data mailbox using the Citizen Identity service.

You can log in to your data mailbox in exactly the same way as you log in to your online banking (if your bank is already connected to Citizen Identity). The range of electronic identification means is constantly being expanded. For more detailed information, visit these websites:

If you suspect that an unauthorized person may have gained access to your username/password, we recommend that you change your password in your data box settings. You also have the option in your account settings to block login by username/password and continue to use only the Citizen Identity service.

If the online option is not feasible for you, visit any Czech POINT contact point and request that your original access data be invalidated and new data issued. At Czech POINT contact points, new access data is issued free of charge.

If you request the invalidation of your own access data and enter your email address, the request is usually processed immediately and you will receive new access data in the form of a so-called virtual envelope.

You can authorize another natural person to submit a request for invalidation. The disadvantage of this procedure is that the submitted power of attorney is always converted into electronic form and the request is sent to the Ministry of the Interior for review. In this case, the data will not be invalidated immediately. In this case, new access data is always sent by post to the specified contact address or to the holder's data mailbox.

How will I receive my login details?

New login details are sent, at the applicant's request, either to the contact address provided by the applicant in the application form or to the applicant in the form of a virtual envelope sent to the applicant's email address.

Please note that the initial password must be changed upon first login.

We recommend changing your password every 90 days. If you do not wish to change your password every 90 days, you must set unlimited password validity in your data mailbox settings.
