The Pardubice Region is testing postal withdrawals using cards from any bank account
The Czech Post is gradually launching a service at 106 branches in the Pardubice Region that allows clients of all banks to withdraw money from their accounts at post offices using a payment card. The aim of the service is to increase the availability of cash even in places where there is no ATM or bank branch.
The Czech Post in Pardubice has introduced a new service: cash withdrawals from any bank account. The pilot region is the Pardubice Region. We would like to thank the representatives of local governments and partners from ČSOB who participated in the creation of this service. The Post Office is thus fulfilling its transformational mission – to be an open infrastructure for a wide range of partners and to assist citizens in everyday situations. Simply put, the Post Office connects people," says Miroslav Štěpán, CEO of the Czech Post Office.
Postal Card Withdrawal is a service provided by the Czech Post in cooperation with its alliance partner ČSOB. Every Czech Post branch offering the service will be clearly marked with the Postal Card Withdrawal logo. If the branch has a call-up system, customers can make an appointment for a specific time and then go to the specific counter almost immediately upon arrival. There, they will place their card on the terminal and be issued the requested amount of money. The maximum amount is three thousand crowns.
"Together with Česká pošta, we have been providing clients with practical and accessible financial services for 35 years. Thanks to the connection between the unique network of post offices and our technological know-how, we can offer people in the regions the option of withdrawing cash even where there are no ATMs. We listen to the needs of citizens and together we come up with solutions that make their everyday lives easier," says Martin Jarolím, Senior Director and Member of the Board of Directors of the ČSOB Group responsible for retail.
The service allows customers to withdraw cash at Czech Post branches using a payment card (debit or credit) issued for a bank account held in the Czech Republic. The service does not allow withdrawals with foreign cards. During the pilot phase, the service will be available at selected branches in the Pardubice Region, which was chosen in agreement with local government representatives. After the pilot phase, the service will be rolled out to all branches, including Partner post offices.
Cash withdrawals using a card can be made once a day, in amounts ranging from CZK 100 to CZK 3,000 (banknotes only).
Clients will be charged a fee of CZK 70 for using this service (a fixed fee regardless of the amount withdrawn). This fee will be paid at the time of withdrawal and will be included in the total transaction amount. Nothing changes for ČSOB clients – they can continue to withdraw cash at post offices once a month free of charge.
The pilot operation will take place at 106 branches in the Pardubice Region. These are post offices without ATMs, and Partner post offices are not included in the pilot.
The project will be launched on September 22 at the Pardubice 1 post office, Na Hrádku 105, 530 02 Pardubice, and on October 1 at other post offices in the Pardubice Region.
