The Pálava Hills have their own stamp

The Pálava Hills have their own stamp

On Wednesday, April 16, Czech Post will release a commemorative postage stamp sheet entitled "The Beauty of Our Homeland: Pálava Hills."

The theme of the stamp and sheetlet is the ruins of the Gothic castle Dívčí hrady, also known as Děvičky, on the limestone plateau of Pálava. The sheetlet depicts a view from the south, from the advanced artillery bastion dating from 1529. It is spring, and low irises and yellow spring snowflakes are blooming on the sunny rocky steppes. Low irises are purple-blue, yellow, or, rarely, white in color. Below Pálava lies the village of Pavlov with its adjacent vineyards and the sprawling Nové Mlýny reservoir.

The sheet has a print run of 22,000 copies and costs CZK 77. It will be available from the Czech Post e-shop and at selected branches.
