Launch of minting of two coins on stamps
On Monday, January 20, the Czech Post will release new postage stamps. Their theme is the Prague groschen and florin coins.
The design is the work of Filip Heyduk, who commemorates two anniversaries of the start of coinage in the press sheet: the 700th anniversary of the start of coinage and the 725th anniversary of the start of coinage of the Prague groschen. The stamps depict both sides of the coins with Latin text referring to the inscription on the respective coin. The dominant typography lends the stamps a sense of dignity and majesty. Both coins are intertwined between the letters, giving them an airy and light feel.
There are four stamps on the sheet (in a 2 + 2 stamp combination). A total of 80,000 stamps will be issued. The denomination is represented by the letter "A", which corresponds to the price for domestic standard letter mail – up to 50 grams in priority delivery according to the current price list of basic postal services – CZK 34 on the date of issue. The stamps were printed by Tiskárna Hradištko and are available at selected post offices and in the Czech Post e-shop.
