Czech Post is a smart filing office for the Ministry of the Interior's health insurance company
Since the beginning of March, it has been possible to submit applications to the Ministry of the Interior's Health Insurance Company, known as ePodání, at five selected branches of the Czech Post Office. Specifically, these are the post offices in Slaný, Holešov, Dvůr Králové nad Labem, Kuřim, and Tišnov.
The aim of the pilot project, which will run until the end of August, is to enable citizens to submit physical applications for health insurance through Czech Post branches. Counter staff will convert the client's application into digital form using a form application and send it via a secure data channel to the health insurance company for further processing. Czech Post employees only perform the function of a filing office and do not participate in further negotiations between the client and the insurance company.
"With this pilot project with the Ministry of the Interior's health insurance company, we are continuing to open our branch network to external partners. We operate post offices throughout the Czech Republic and, especially in rural areas, we are often the only point of contact for citizens with public and private institutions. I believe that the project will prove successful during its pilot phase and that we will be able to expand not only the number of branches where clients can submit applications to health insurance companies, but also the number of external partners themselves. After completing the pilot operation, we will offer the opportunity to cooperate to all health insurance companies," says Martina Ivanová, director of the Czech Post branch network.
"The aim of the cooperation with Česká pošta is to provide assistance to insured persons who do not have access to digital tools or are unable to submit digital applications independently. Thanks to the new service, insured persons can take advantage of the assistance of trained staff in filling out and sending electronic forms. The project is a logical step in our efforts to expand the availability of our services, digitize and streamline the application process. Not only will it shorten the time it takes to process applications, but it will also reduce the costs associated with the manual processing of paper documents at our filing offices, from receipt and archiving to disposal," says Denisa Kalousková, Director of the Commercial and Organizational Department at ZP MV ČR.
Česká pošta is currently negotiating with the Association of Health Insurance Companies of the Czech Republic about the possible involvement of other entities.
