Animal stamps will decorate letters and postcards
On Wednesday, September 3, Czech Post will release a new commemorative stamp sheet entitled European Animals with Their Young.
The sheet of European animal species with their young follows on from the previous sheet featuring native Czech species. For example, the chamois ceased to be a native species after the division of Czechoslovakia, as did the marmot. The flying squirrel is native to the forests of northern Europe, while the hazel dormouse inhabits the forests of southern Europe. Dolphins can be seen off the coast of the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Spotting the shy Mediterranean monk seal on small islands is almost a miracle.
The authors are Libuše and Jaromír Knotkovi. The price of the sheet is CZK 142 and it has a print run of 26,000 copies. It will be available at the Czech Post e-shop and at selected branches.
