A key condition for starting the transformation was stabilizing the Czech Post. Thanks to consistent crisis management, in 2023, they managed to significantly reduce the total loss of the post office and create conditions that made it possible to clearly separate the requirements for operational and transformation financing. In practice, this means that in the coming months, the Czech Post will submit clearly specified requirements for the financing of individual transformation activities to the government so that it is clear how much each activity will cost and what benefits it will bring both for the long-term management of the Czech Post and for the citizens of the Czech Republic. Transparent procedures will ensure the prudent use of taxpayers' money.
Other key milestones of the transformation include adjusting the organizational structure of Česká pošta and dividing employees between Czech Post and Balíkovna, implementing a number of procedural and technological changes, including changes to the IT infrastructure, approving the transformation law, selecting a new postal license holder for the next period, offering the services of certain state institutions and companies at Czech Post branches, preparation for an open infrastructure, and, of course, the separation of Balíkovna as an independent state-owned joint-stock company as of January 1, 2025.
