Recipient card
A recipient card is a document issued by the Czech Post to individuals or entrepreneurs who want to authorise another person to receive mail and money sent by money orders on the addressee's behalf. The only exception are items qualified as "Do vlastních rukou výhradně jen adresáta" ("Delivery to the Addressee Only"). The card is valid in the Czech Republic for a maximum period of 3 years (or less according to the addressee's instructions). The card terminates:
- on expiry date,
- on revocation,
- on change of address, death or end of business of the addressee.
You can apply for recipient card at any post office in the Czech Republic. Use the Application for Recipient Card form (Žádost o vydání průkazu příjemce – fyzické osoby a fyzické osoby podnikající). You will get the recipient card while you wait. If you are too frail to come to a post office to apply for the card in person, we can pick up the application either at your home or at some other address.
The clerk at the post office will authenticate your signature and identity. Please bring also two copies of the form "Poučení pro uživatele Průkazu příjemce – fyzické osoby a fyzické osoby podnikající" ("Instructions for recipient card users (individuals and entrepreneurs)") (or ask the clerk for them). The clerk will ask you to sign one copy to certify that you have read the Instructions and will attach it to the application form. The other copy is for you. If the application is filed by a person other than the addressee, the addressee's signature must be authenticated by a notary, municipal office, Czech embassy or attorney-at-law.
Recipient cards issued to holders of a power of attorney or legal representatives of the addressee will be issued only if the applicant presents an authenticated copy of the power of attorney or the form "Prohlášení zákonného zástupce" ("Certificate of legal representative") together with the application form. The Certificate is not required from parents of children younger than 15.
The clerk will charge you a price according to the valid Price List.
You can contact any post office if you have lost your card or if your card has expired. If your card has been lost, you will be charged a price for handling the case according to the valid Price List.
